Vampire Hunter

Redguard - Waraxe - Light - Spellsword - Warrior

Background

As a hunter of creatures who slink in the dark you look for new ways to take down your hated enemies. The recent reformation of the Dawnguard has opened up opportunities for you, amongst like minded individuals, due to common goals.


Weapons

Any war axe as soon as you can and then a Dawnguard War Axe. The final weapon is a Dawnguard Rune Axe. The Rune Axe does 1 point of sun damage for each undead killed with the axe up to a maximum of 100. The number of undead killed is shown on the enchantment description.

Once you have started the Prophet Dawnguard quest and found the wagon you can go back to Fort Dawnguard and talk to Sorine and Gunmer to recruit Florentius to the team. You have to complete 1 quest for Sorine and then I kept alternating between Gunmer and Florentius for what I think it took about 12 or so quests before I got the Rune Axe. I'm not sure if the relic items are in a set order or randomised but it was the last one of the three for me.


Armor

Get the Torturer’s Hood on your way out from Helgen and then craft a set of Leather Scout Armor. The final gear is Torturer’s Hood, Thieves Guild Armor, Dawnguard Light Boots and Gauntlets.

You can pickup the boots and gauntlets as soon as you can get to Fort Dawnguard and don't have to get to level 10 when the chance of getting the quest to go there normally starts. I was wearing them at level 5.

I wore some scaled armor and had all my gear enchanted before going for the thieves guild armor, but I do play on legendary difficulty. You can get the armour by basically doing the second quest for the theives guild which is to convince three people in Riften to pay the money they owe the guild.


Spells

Destruction for the fire spells and Restoration for heals and some undead damaging spells.


Standing Stones

Any stone while levelling and the Atronach Stone once the Atronach perk has been acquired.


Shrines

Use a shrine of Mara for 10% Restoration spell cost.


Shouts

Unrelenting Force (Force - Balance - Push)

Location: Just follow the main story quests

Staggers enemies.

Whirlwind Sprint (Whirlwind - Fury - Tempest)

Location: Dead Men’s Respite, Volskygge, High Hrothgar (The Way of the Voice)

Use to reach otherwise inaccessible places and to quickly evade attacks or catch up with fleeing enemies.


Character Creation

Female Redguard

Dunmer, Imperial and Redguard come out top with 25/35 points boosted by all races. I took Redguard for the better combat stats and 50% poison resistance.

Pick female as the sex for your character as there are more male humanoids than females to fight in Skyrim so the 10% damage bonus against the opposite sex from Agent of Dibella gets more use. All Dwemer Automatons are considered male.

Place attribute points at 0 / 3 / 1. At level 61 which is required for all the perks the attributes are:

Detect Life Adept Nearby living creatures, but not undead, machines or Daedra, can be seen through walls
Telekinesis Adept Can pull an object to you from distance. Add it to your inventory or throw it

Detect Dead Expert Nearby dead can be seen through walls

The Detect Life spellbook can be obtained in Whiterun by taking to the Steward in Dragonsreach and following the quest to the Stables. Cast this spell in the market to level Alteration.


Conjuration

Spell Level Description
Soul Trap Apprentice If a target dies within 60 seconds, fills a soul gem

Soul Trap is used to level Conjuration and also fill soul gems.


Destruction

Flames Novice A gout of fire inflicting a base damage of 8 points of fire damage per second
Firebolt Apprentice A blast of fire that does 25 points of fire damage
Fireball Adept A fireball which explodes on impact for 40 points of damage in a 15-foot radius
Flame Cloak Adept For 60 seconds, opponents in melee range take 8 points of damage per second
Incinerate Expert A blast of fire that does 60 points of damage. Targets on fire take extra damage
Mara's Wrath Expert For 30 seconds, opponents in melee range take 16 points fire damage per second, Undead up to level 26 flee for 30 seconds
Wall of Flames Expert Sprayed on the ground, it creates a wall of fire that does 50 points of fire damage per second
Unbounded Storms Expert Targets in melee range take 40 shock damage per second to Health, and half that to Magicka. Random lightning strikes deal an additional 30 damage

Unbounded Storms is purely used as a means to level Destruction very quickly.


Illusion

Spell Level Description
Courage Novice Target won't flee for 60 seconds, and gets some extra health and stamina.

Courage can be used to level illusion.


Restoration

Spell Level Description
Healing Novice Heals the caster 10 points per second
Healing Hands Apprentice Heals the target 10 points per second, but not undead, atronachs, or machines
Fast Healing Apprentice Heals caster by 50 points
Close Wounds Adept Heals caster by 100 points
Grand Healing Expert Heals everyone close to the caster 200 points. Does not affect atronachs, machines or undead
Bane of Undead Master Sets undead up to level 30 on fire and makes them flee for 30 seconds

Grand healing is used to fully replenish your stamina even if your health is full.

With the Sallow Regent Black Book the magnitude of all enchantments can be increased. Please note that Black Books can only be used on Solstheim.

The magnitude of the enchantments can be further increased by equipping 4 pieces of Azhidal's gear.

All the details for the potions and poisons are based on having all the listed alchemy perks, Alchemy at 100 and a set of crafting gear.

Go to Shimmermist Cave to the North East of Whiterun and gather 2 Glowing Mushroom inside the entrance. The remaining 7 are in the secret lab at the farm. Snowberries are around Windhelm Stables and the local farms. Steel-Blue Entoloma are available from Khajiit caravans. Remember to buy, quicksave, attack and quickload to reset the vendor until you have all 13 Steel-Blue Entoloma.


Potion of Fortify Enchanting

Effects Fortify Enchanting 85% stronger for 30 seconds

Dreugh Wax and Stoneflower Petals are only available from Khajiit caravans. Some travel between Whiterun and Markarth. Snowberries are abundant near Windhelm.

Effects Fortify Smithing 213% stronger for 30 seconds
