Clockwork Apostle

Background

The Clockwork Apostles are devout followers of the Clockwork God, Sotha Sil. They reside in the Clockwork Basilica, located within the Clockwork City's Brass Fortress. Those seeking to become an Apostle must possess great expertise in magic, machinery, or some other skill that they deem worthy


Weapons

Any Mace at the start of the game, upgraded to a Dwarven Mace and then Sunder.

Sunder can be acquired by reading the journal in New Gnisis Cornerclub in Windhelm and the completing the resulting quest. This weapon doesn’t appear to increase in damage with the Augmented Destruction perks or Fortify Destruction potions in the same way as a Chais Damage enchantment does but it does use no charges with Fortify Destruction enchantments of 100% or more. It does have 300 charges so that's a lot of hits per recharge.

The Athereal Staff is also used to summon an Auromaton to help you in combat. This can be acquired by completing the lost to the ages quest, which is the same one you acquire Zephyr in. There's a book called The Aetherium Wars and a copy can be found in Dragonsreach to the left of where the alchemy and enchnting table are near Farengar. The charge cost is not reduced by Fortify Conjuration enchantments and most of the conjures don't get an increased duration of more than the standard 60 seconds with a Fortify Conjuration potion. Therefore expect 18 chargesof usage before you need to recharge it.


Armor

Any heavy armour as you level up. The final gear is a Gold and Ruby Circlet, Extravagant Robes, Dwarven Boots and Wraithguard. You could use Dwarven Plate Boots as they have a slightly hgher armor rating than the standard Dwarven boots but I found that they clip slightly through the robes when standing still so decided not to use them.

Wraithguard is acquired in the same guest as Sunder.

The Extravagent Robes can be bought from Radiant Raiment in Solitude.


Spells

Utility spells from Alteration, Elementals spells from Destruction and Heals from Restoration.


Standing Stones

The Lord Stone for 25% magic resistance and 50 extra armour.


Shrines

Use a Shrine of Azura for 10% magic resistance.


Shouts

Unrelenting Force (Force - Balance - Push)

Location: Just follow the main story quests

Staggers enemies.

Whirlwind Sprint (Whirlwind - Fury - Tempest)

Location: Dead Men’s Respite, Volskygge, High Hrothgar (The Way of the Voice)

Use to reach otherwise inaccessible places and to quickly evade attacks or catch up with fleeing enemies.


Character Creation

Female Dark Elf

Pick a Dunmer as they are the perfect match for the build based on the origin of the build.

Pick female as the sex for your character as there are more male humanoids than females to fight in Skyrim so the 10% damage bonus against the opposite sex from Agent of Dibella gets more use. All Dwemer Automatons count as Male.

Distribute attributes at a ratio of 1 / 2 / 0. At level 59 which is required for all the perks the attributes are:

Spell Level Description
Candlelight Novice Creates a hovering light that lasts for 60 seconds.

Candlelight was the only spell I needed as all the magical defences come from enchantments other sources than Alteration.


Conjuration

Spell Level Description
Soul Trap Apprentice If a target dies within 60 seconds, fills a soul gem

Use Soul Trap to fill soul gems, which can help recharge the Aetherium Staff.


Destruction

Spell Level Description
Elemental Flare Novice An elemental explosion for 15 points of magic damage and half as much stamina. Deals shock damage on impact.
Flames Novice A gout of fire inflicting a base damage of 8 points of fire damage per second
Sparks Novice Lightning that does 8 points of shock damage to Health and Magicka per second
Elemental Bolt Apprentice An elemental explosion for 20 points of magic damage and half as much stamina. Deals shock damage on impact.
Elemental Burst Adept An elemental explosion for 30 points of magic damage and half as much stamina. Deals shock damage on impact.
Elemental Blast Expert An elemental explosion for 40 points of magic damage and half as much stamina. Deals shock damage on impact.

Get Elmental Flare as soon as you can from Farengar in Dragonsreach. I was killing wolves in 3 shots on Legendary difficulty at the start of the game and it does some area of effect damage, which is unusual for a spell of such a low level.

With 2 ranks in Augmented Fire, Frost and Shock the damage from Elemental Burst raises from 40 to 125. This can be further boosted with Fortify Destruction potions.


Illusion

Spell Level Description
Courage Novice Target won't flee for 60 seconds, and gets some extra health and stamina.

Courage can be used to level illusion by casting it at an NPC.


Restoration

Spell Level Description
Healing Novice Heals the caster 10 points per second
Healing Hands Apprentice Heals the target 10 points per second, but not undead, atronachs, or machines
Fast Healing Apprentice Heals caster by 50 points
Close Wounds Adept Heals caster by 100 points
Grand Healing Expert Heals everyone close to the caster 200 points. Does not affect atronachs, machines or undead

With the Sallowed Regent Black Book the magnitude of all enchantments can be increased. Please note that Black Books can only be used on Solstheim.

The magnitude of the enchantments can be further increased by equipping 4 pieces of Azhidal's gear.


Alchemy

All the details for the potions and poisons are based on having all the listed alchemy perks, Alchemy at 100 and a set of crafting gear.

Potion of Fortify Health

Restore Health 266 points restored

You can get all the Blue Mountain Flowers you need in Whiterun. The two farms to the east of Whiterun also get you all the Wheat you need.


Potion of Fortify Destruction

Ingredients Glowing Mushrooms, Snowberries & Steel-Blue Entoloma
Effects Fortify Destruction Destruction spells are 213% stronger for 60 seconds
Resist Frost Increases frost resistance by 128% for 60 seconds.
Resist Shock Increases shock resistance by 128% for 60 seconds.

Get 2 Glowing Mushrooms just inside Shimmermist Cave to the north east of Whiterun and the remaining 7 are in the secret lab at the farm. Go back to Helgen and take the path towards Ivarstead and gather all the Snowberries you need from there. Steel-Blue Entoloma are from Khajiit merchants.


Potion of Fortify Enchanting

Ingredients Dreugh Wax/Stoneflower Petals & Snowberries
Effects Fortify Enchanting 85% stronger for 30 seconds

Dreugh Wax and Stoneflower Petals are only available from Khajiit caravans. Some travel between Whiterun and Markarth. Snowberries are abundant near Windhelm.


Potion of Fortify Smithing

Ingredients Dreugh Wax/Gold Kanet & Glowing Mushrooms
Effects Fortify Smithing 213% stronger for 30 seconds

Dreugh Wax and Gold Kanet are only available from Khajiit caravans. Some travel between Whiterun and Markarth. Glowing Mushrooms are in Falmer caves.
