Death Hag

Dark Elf - Dagger - Clothing - Light - Dual Wield - Battlemage

Background

Death Hags are Dark Elf cultists who relish the frenzy of battle. They can befuddle their enemies or drive them into an insane frenzy. They are skilled in the art of crafting poisons and potions that drive them into a frenzy of whirling blades in battle.


Weapons

Dual Wielded Dark Daggers but any daggers are fine at the start of the game.

Talk to Ri'saad at the Khajiit caravan that moves between Whiterun and Markarth and ask him about bandit attacks. You'll be able to get both daggers and the armour for free from this quest.


Armor

Jade and Emerald Circlet and Dark Seducer Armor in the remaining slots. Make some Leather Scout gear as soon as you can as it’s the best light armour you can craft without any smithing perks. The armour is acquired at the same time as the daggers.


Spells

Utility spells from Alteration, Frenzy spells from Illusion. Healing spells from Restoration.


Standing Stones

The Guardian Stones while levelling skills and then the Atronach Stone once you have the Atronach perk.


Shrines

Use a Shrine of Azura for 10% magic resistance.


Shouts

Dismay (Fear - Run - Terror)

Location: Dead Crone Rock, Lost Tongue Overlook, Shalidor’s Maze

Causes enemies up to level 24 to flee for 30 seconds. Quick to activate over say using Hysteria. Can be useful to remove weak enemies from combat for a while as you take on the more challenging enemies.

Whirlwind Sprint (Whirlwind - Fury - Tempest)

Location: Dead Men’s Respite, Volskygge, High Hrothgar (The Way of the Voice)

Use to reach otherwise inaccessible places and to quickly evade attacks or catch up with fleeing enemies.


Character Creation

Female Dark Elf

Pick a Dunmer as they are the perfect match for the build based on the origin of the build, which is a Dark Elf unit from Warhammer.

Pick female as the sex for your character as there are more male humanoids than females to fight in Skyrim so the 10% damage bonus against the opposite sex from Agent of Dibella gets more use. All Dwemer Automatons count as Male.

Spell Level Description
Candlelight Novice Creates a hovering light that lasts for 60 seconds.
Detect Life Expert Nearby living creatures, but not undead, machines or daedra, can be seen through walls

The Detect Life spellbook can be obtained in Whiterun by taking to the Steward in Dragonsreach and following the quest to the Stables. Cast this spell in the market to level Alteration.


Conjuration

Soul Trap Apprentice If a target dies within 60 seconds, fills a soul gem

Use Soul Trap to fill soul gems, which can help recharge the Aetherium Staff.


Destruction

Flames Novice A gout of fire inflicting a base damage of 8 points of fire damage per second
Sparks Novice Lightning that does 8 points of shock damage to Health and Magicka per second

Destruction was not needed in this build.


Illusion

Spell Level Description
Courage Novice Target won't flee for 60 seconds, and gets some extra health and stamina.
Fury Novice Creatures and people up to level 6 will attack anything nearby for 30 seconds.
Frenzy Adept Creatures and people up to level 14 will attack anyone nearby for 60 seconds.
Mayhem Master Creatures and people up to level 25 will attack anyone nearby for 60 seconds.

Courage can be used to level illusion by casting it at an NPC.


Restoration

Healing Novice Heals the caster 10 points per second
Healing Hands Apprentice Heals the target 10 points per second, but not undead, atronachs, or machines
Fast Healing Apprentice Heals caster by 50 points

Alchemy

All the details for the potions and poisons are based on having all the listed alchemy perks, Alchemy at 100 and a set of crafting gear.

Poison of Weakness to Poison

Ingredients Deathbell, Giant Luchen & Jazbay Grapes
Effects Weakness to Poison Target is 85% weaker to poison damage for 30 seconds
Ravage Health Concentrated poison temporarily reduces maximum and current Health by 85 points for 10 seconds

Deathbells and Giant Lichen are found in the swamps around Morthal. Jazbay Grapes can be found near the road by Kynesgrove to the south of Windhelm.


Potion of Fortify Health

Ingredients Blue Mountain Flower & Wheat
Effects Fortify Health 170 points for 60 seconds
Restore Health 266 points restored

You can get all the Blue Mountain Flowers you need in Whiterun. The two farms to the east of Whiterun also get you all the Wheat you need.


Potion of Fortify Carry Weight

Ingredients Mora Tapinella, Scaly Pholiota & Steel-Blue Entoloma
Effects Fortify Carry Weight Carrying capacity increases by 170 for 300 seconds
Regenerate Stamina Stamina regenerates 213% faster for 300 seconds
Fortify Illusion Illusion spells are 170% stronger for 60 seconds
Restore Magicka Restores 266 points of Magicka

Mora Tapinella are on the route from Helgen to Whiterun. There’s a lot of Scaly Pholiota to the south of Ivarstead and around Riften. Steel-Blue Entoloma are from Khajiit caravan merchants.


Potion of Fortify Enchanting

Effects Fortify Enchanting 85% stronger for 30 seconds

Dreugh Wax and Stoneflower Petals are only available from Khajiit caravans. Some travel between Whiterun and Markarth. Snowberries are abundant near Windhelm.


Potion of Fortify Smithing

Ingredients Dreugh Wax/Gold Kanet & Glowing Mushrooms
Effects Fortify Smithing 213% stronger for 30 seconds

Dreugh Wax and Gold Kanet are only available from Khajiit caravans. Some travel between Whiterun and Markarth. Glowing Mushrooms are in Falmer caves.
