This tool is based on a spreadsheet I have been using for a number of years for my builds that I thought would be useful for others if I made it into an online calculator. It's based on the approximate Armor Rating calculations from USSEP along with the Smithing Quality Level calculations.
Smithing
This section calculates the Smithing Quality level when improving a piece of armour on a workbench. It factors in whether the item benefits from a Smithing perk and also if used the magnitude of a Fortify Smithing potion and also the magnitude of the total Fortify Smithing enchantments if a set of crafting gear is used. The default values are those that can be found in my crafting gear guide and assume that the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch (USSEP) is being used but you can change these to whatever you are using in your game be that higher or lower in magnitude.

Light & Heavy Armor
The form below allows you to setup the skill levels perks and enchantments for both Light and Heavy Armor. I have added the ability to mix and match Light and Heavy Armor becuase I've done that myself to create a certain look for a build.
Please note that the Custom Fit and Well Fitted perks check that exactly 4 pieces of Light or Heavy Armor are being worn, which means they don't work if you use an item in another slot such as a necklace with an Armor Rating. USSEP checks for 4 or more items to apply the benefits of these perks so they always work when using that mod. I have also not added a check to see that all the items in the 4 main slots are of a set so you will need to use your own knowledge on this as if you have it checked then it will apply the adjust as long as you have 4 items of either Light or Heavy in the main 4 slots.

Item Selection and Results
Select the items you want to use in your build or leave the item selection set at default if clothing is being used in that slot. The improve column is whether an item can be improved at a Workbench and the Perk column is whether there is an associated Smithing Perk for the item and you intend to use it in your build.
