Ravager

High Elf - Greatsword - Heavy - Barbarian

Background

Feared by many, understood by few, the infamous ravager is an individual who has dedicated themselves to Mepeoth. Living a life of savagery the ravager seeks to spread fear and anguish wherever they go.


Weapons

Any two-handed weapon at the start of the game. The final weapon is a Madness Greatsword enchanted with Fear and a lowered Absorb Health. Lowering the Absorb Health 9 steps to the left so that the Fear is the greater enchantment means that Illusion is the school of magic that determines charge usage. This also means that the potion that boosts two-handed weapon damage also boosts the strength of the enchantments because it also has the Fortify Illusion effect.


Armor

Any heavy armor at the start of the game with Steel Soldier being a good starting set to craft as early as you can.

The final gear is a full set of Madness Armor. The Ring of the Wind is also used so you can run down fleeing enemies more esailt with the movement speed boost it provides.

The full set of Madness Armor can be crafted from Madness Ore which can appear in boss chests. Once you complete the Saints and Seducers quests you can find the ore for sale from Khajiit caravans. Ebony Smithing is required to craft it as well as completing the quest to craft it from reading the note on the table after you have defeated Thoron.

In total you need 46 Madness Ore to make 23 Madness Ingots. You also need 6 Ebony Ingot and 12 Leather Strips. This allows you to craft the armor and greatsword and have enough Madness Ingots to also improve them.


Spells

Utility spells from Alteration, Fear spells from Illusion and healing spells from Restoration.


Standing Stones

The Atronach Stone for 50% spell absorption, 50 Magicka but -50% magicka regeneration.


Shrines

Use a shrine of Talos for the 20% shout cooldown reduction.


Shouts

Dismay (Fear - Run - Terror)

Location: Dead Crone Rock, Lost Tongue Overlook, Shalidor’s Maze.

Used to fear weak enemies so you can focus on attacking the tougher targets.

Whirlwind Sprint (Whirlwind - Fury - Tempest)

Location: Dead Men’s Respite, Volskygge, High Hrothgar (The Way of the Voice)

Use to reach otherwise inaccessible places and to quickly evade attacks or catch up with fleeing enemies.


Character Creation

Female High Elf

High Elf and Imperial come out better based on the skills used on 30/35 boosted skill points. Imperials get more boosts into warrior skills which are slower to level than the mage skills but I went with High Elves for the bonus 50 Magicka and the +10 in Illusion. Remember to use Fury in Helgen and the early levels to make enemies attack their allies.

Pick female as the sex for your character as there are more male humanoids than females to fight in Skyrim so the 10% damage bonus against the opposite sex from Agent of Dibella gets more use.

Distribute attributes at a ratio of 0 / 2 / 1. At level 59 which is required for all the perks the attributes are:

Spell Level Description
Candlelight Novice Creates a hovering light that lasts for 60 seconds
Detect Life Adept Nearby living creatures, but not undead, machines or Daedra, can be seen through walls
Telekinesis Adept Can pull an object to you from distance. Add it to your inventory or throw it
Waterbreathing Adept Can breathe under water for 60 seconds. Stand in water and cast to level Alteration.

The Detect Life spellbook can be obtained in Whiterun by taking to the Steward in Dragonsreach and following the quest to the Stables.


Conjuration

Spell Level Description
Conjure Familiar Novice Summons a familiar for 60 seconds wherever the caster is pointing

Conjuration is not needed in the build but you could use conjure familiar to help tank enemies for you in the early levels.


Destruction

Flames Novice A gout of fire inflicting a base damage of 8 points of fire damage per second

Destruction is not needed in the build.


Illusion

Spell Level Description
Courage Novice Target won't flee for 60 seconds, and gets some extra health and stamina.
Fear Apprentice Creatures and people up to level 9 flee from combat for 30 seconds.
Rally Adept Targets won't flee for 60 seconds and get extra health and stamina.
Rout Expert Creatures and people up to level 20 flee from combat for 30 seconds.
Hysteria Master Creatures and people up to level 25 flee from combat for 60 seconds.

Courage and then Rally can be used to level illusion by casting it at an NPC, with the later being once you have your gear crafted and enchanted. Apprentice Illusion is taken as a perk to enable fear to be cast early in the build if you invest the 2 perk points needed to get it.


Restoration

Spell Level Description
Healing Novice Heals the caster 10 points per second
Fast Healing Apprentice Heals caster by 50 points
Close Wounds Adept Heals caster by 100 points
Grand Healing Expert Heals everyone close to the caster 200 points. Does not affect atronachs, machines or undead

The effects listed below are based upon 100 Enchanting skill, all the enchanting perks in the build and with a set of enchanted crafting gear. Read my guide on making crafting gear if you are not familiar with it.

With the Sallowed Regent Black Book the magnitude of all enchantments can be increased. Please note that Black Books can only be used on Solstheim.

The magnitude of the enchantments can be further increased by equipping 4 pieces of Azhidal's gear.


Alchemy

All the details for the potions and poisons are based on having all the listed alchemy perks, Alchemy at 100 and a set of crafting gear.

Potion of Fortify Health

Ingredients Blue Mountain Flower & Wheat
Effects Fortify Health Increases health by 170 points for 60 seconds.
Restore Health Restores 266 points of health

All of the ingredients can be found in or around Whiterun.


Potion of Regenerate Stamina

Ingredients Fly Amanita, Dragon's Tongue & Scaly Pholiota
Effects Regenerate Stamina Stamina regenerates 213% faster for 300 seconds
Fortify Two-handed Two-handed weapons do 170% more damage for 60 seconds

Resist Fire Grants 128% resistance to fire for 60 seconds

Fly Amanita and Dragon's Tongue can be found at Kynesgrove, which is just to the south of Windhelm. Fly Amanita are numerous in the mine there as well. There’s a lot of Scaly Pholiota to the south of Ivarstead. There's a path to Ivarstead through the mountains from Helgen.


Potion of Fortify Enchanting

Ingredients Dreugh Wax/Stoneflower Petals & Snowberries
Effects Fortify Enchanting 85% stronger for 30 seconds

Dreugh Wax and Stoneflower Petals are only available from Khajiit caravans. Some travel between Whiterun and Markarth. Snowberries are abundant near Windhelm.


Potion of Fortify Smithing

Ingredients Dreugh Wax/Gold Kanet & Glowing Mushrooms
Effects Fortify Smithing 213% stronger for 30 seconds

Dreugh Wax and Gold Kanet are only available from Khajiit caravans. Some travel between Whiterun and Markarth. Glowing Mushrooms are in Falmer caves.
